The West Tennessee Animal Alliance (W.T.A.A.), a new non-profit organization formed in June 2005, is working to raise awareness about the over-population of dogs and cats in West Tennessee with a focus on Tipton County. The main goal of the W.T.A.A. is to educate the public about spay and neuter programs and their importance in preventing the unnecessary death of hundreds of unwanted pets each day. Our goal and mission is Working and Teaching Animal Awareness. Through community involvement we are helping change Tipton County for the better. We are helping to create awareness of the over-population of dogs and cats in the county. We are actively educating citizens on the importance of reducing over-population problems of their own by spaying and neutering their pet companions. We help those who are on government assistance or those who are financially unable to find financial assistance for spaying or neutering. We aid and assist the Tipton County Animal Shelter by maintaining the www.tiptonshelter.Petfinder.com website, updating local shelter lists at 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com, and by publishing photos and stories in local media about the animals in the shelter. We maintain a strong network with local and state animal rescue groups and advocate humane animal practices to both commercial and private sectors.
